We’re delighted to have received a 30M SEK, six year Interdisciplinary Research Environment grant from the Swedish Research Council! This grant includes the groups of Anna Överby (Umeå), Richard Lundmark (Umeå), Gerald McInerney (KI), Benjamin Murrell (KI) and Andreas Carlson (Oslo). In it, we will conduct interdisciplinary research on viral replication organelles, focussing on a subset of arboviruses, i.e. viruses spread by mosquitos and ticks. We will have a major focus on training a cohort of new PhD students within this interdisciplinary environment, and on interacitons between labs and research disciplines that normally don’t interact. We’re so thankful to the Swedish Research Council for giving us this opportunity to think big, think long-term and try to pick some high-hanging fruit!
