We recently combined two celebrations into one: the publication of our tick-borne flavivirus tomography paper, and the farewell to poliovirus. The “Langat paper” is probably the biggest and longest project we had in the group so far (as evident from the authors list), and we were really happy that Erin, as one of the early postdocs in the project, showed up for the celebration. As for poliovirus, well it is bittersweet that we are no longer allowed to work with the wildtype virus. It was one of the safest viruses for us to work on, since everyone is vaccinated, and it is a fanstastic model virus for enteroviruses. At the same time, we of course share WHO’s ambition to eventually eradicate this virus. And we are happy to keep working on Coxsackievirus. Enough text, here’s some photos from the celebration!
